DentalCostFinder Pricing Methodology & Trust Standards
How we estimate dental treatment costs, audit clinic information, evaluate data confidence, and separate commercial advertising from empirical facts.

database1. Where Dental Cost Data Comes From
DentalCostFinder aggregates and cross-validates pricing across four primary source categories in Canada:
verifiedProvincial Fee Guides (Official Benchmark)
Annual suggested fee guides published by provincial dental associations (e.g., ODA in Ontario, BCDA in British Columbia, ADA in Alberta). These serve as regional baseline reference numbers.
domainClinic-Verified Submissions
Fee structures directly provided by licensed Canadian dental offices upon profile claiming or periodic fee verification audits.
publicPublic Clinic Fee Observations
Publicly posted fee schedules from dental clinics, hospital dental departments, and community health centers across Canadian cities.
calculateAggregated Market Models
Regional statistical ranges calculated using geographic cost-of-living tiers, clinic density, and multi-source observations to establish realistic local lows and highs.
tune2. How Ranges & Confidence Are Calculated
Every procedure displays a Low – High Range and where available, a Typical / Median Cost.
- Low Estimate: Represents routine cases, simple extractions, single-surface restorations, or non-surgical straightforward presentations.
- High Estimate: Accounts for anatomical complexity, surgical interventions (e.g. bone grafting, impacted extractions), premium restorative materials (such as monolithic zirconia), and specialist fee schedules.

health_and_safety3. CDCP & Private Insurance Notice
CDCP Established Fees are not standard clinic fees: Health Canada sets specific established fee maximums for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). Dental offices across Ontario, BC, Alberta, and other provinces are independent small businesses that set their own billing rates.
Even for patients qualifying for 100% CDCP coverage, if a clinic's standard fee exceeds the federal CDCP established reimbursement rate, or if specific procedures require preauthorization or are not covered, an out-of-pocket balance may remain.
DentalCostFinder displays estimated local market costs to help patients anticipate potential balance billing before booking.
shield_lock4. Separation of Data Integrity and Advertising
In compliance with professional standards (including the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) and British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP) advertising guidelines):
✅ Verified ≠ Paid
Verification status confirms office contact information, licensed dentists on staff, and confirmed services. It cannot be purchased through advertising fees or subscriptions.
✅ Sponsored Placement is Labelled
Clinics paying for visibility are clearly marked as Sponsored or Featured. Sponsored placement does not modify cost benchmark calculations or organic ranking signals.
DentalCostFinder never employs subjective, unverified superlatives such as "Best Dentist", "#1 Dental Clinic", or "Cheapest Dentist".
